Buy Me a Coffee?

Buy Me a Coffee. As in a small coffee with one cream and one sugar from McDonald’s because I have no idea how people drink Starbucks coffee. All jokes aside, Buy Me a Coffee is a unique way to showcase yourself as a creator. For example, I use my page to quickly list my poetry ebooks, custom poetry writing, and some other fun extras. Sure, I could use my website for this. In fact, my website makes it super easy for me to sell items but I like how the Buy Me a Coffee dashboard feels unique, more personal and multi-functional.

I discovered Buy Me a Coffee earlier this year when I was looking for a way to personalize the History & Mysteries podcast into a fan club setup. I liked that Buy Me a Coffee allowed me to message fans, monetize the podcast, and create content that was only accessible to the supporters of the podcast. Forward to November and the I now want to showcase the podcast while also highlighting the other creative endeavors I have.

I felt having all my content in one place was important to me. I’m someone who can get a bit all over the place with my ideas, and the feeling to be centralized is a feeling I crave to keep myself organized. I’m very self-aware of my tendency to daydream too much a time. This is my longwinded way of saying I decided to grow the Buy Me a Coffee dashboard instead of using my personal website.

If you’re looking for a way to showcase yourself as a creator, Buy Me a Coffee is a great platform to tryout. I find it to be comparable to Patreon in terms of creating content, community, and monetizing content behind a paywall. While I only have brief experience with Patreon, I do find Buy Me a Coffee to be easier to use overall. I like how the dashboard is easy to use, bright, cheerful, and is growing and changing as the platform grows.

I also liked how easy it was for me to add digital downloads, send messages (and email) to my fans, and to have the membership aspects. Oh, and one fun part is you can change “coffee” to other fun items. For example, mine is “Buy Me a Book”. I’m just getting started on the journey, so be sure to try it out for yourself and feel free to let me know what you think.

You can check it out here and if you signup, I earn a commission. Don’t worry though, I liked this tool before earning a commission was part of this post.
